Pheasants Forever believes the future of conservation and our hunting heritage depends upon today’s youth having the desire and opportunities to carry on the ethical traditions of this organization. At both the national and chapter level, Pheasants Forever is investing in sound programs enriched with events such as youth mentor hunts, conservation events and habitat projects.

Details: Sponsored by the Ruff Grouse Society and Pheasants Forever, this camp offers the opportunity to learn the basics of hunting upland game birds. Classes cover the habits and habitat needs of game birds as well as safe and proper wingshooting techniques and even how to prepare game birds for cooking. Campers learn ethical hunting techniques and the role of conservation organizations in maintaining the sport of game bird hunting as well as how to locate hunting areas and how to respect private landowners. Trained dogs are an important aspect of upland bird hunting - this camp includes a field trip to Pine Shadows Kennel to learn about bird dog breeds and training techniques. Great way to meet friends and gain bird hunting skills. Limited scholarships available through Deep Portage for this camp.

Please Note: Most firearms classes are offered in spring and fall. Check for SPRING classes in February and FALL classes in July. Classes are added to the DNR website daily as the information becomes available. Periodically check the class listing for additional classes.
Requirements: Certification is available to students 11 years and older.
